Thomas on the Oxen and Asses

–ST IIa IIae, 2, 6

“On the contrary is what is said in Job 1, that the oxen were plowing, and the asses were being pastured next to them, because plainly the lesser ones, who are signified through asses, ought to adhere to the majority, who are signified through the oxen, in things to be believed; as Gregory expounds, in Morals II.”
